Compliance Director and Trustee
OK if there is one thing I absolutely love – it’s skiing! I started going in 2006 and go at least once a year and I love every moment on the slopes and the mountains. If you haven’t tried it, I would highly recommend it!
I like all types of music especially R ‘n’ B, Garage (and maybe a bit of Dance), actually anything that keeps me going in the gym. To be honest, I like anything with a beat…though I’m not a great dancer!
Favourite TV Shows
Anyone who knows me can answer this without any hesitation. My favourite TV show is The Simpsons! I won’t go into any more detail about that, but let’s just say I really like it ;-). I also enjoy watching anything that makes me laugh! My wife and kids, Family Guy, How I met your Mother, The Inbetweeners… actually the list can go on for a while!
Casino, Godfather, Goodfellas, Butterfly Effect, All the Police Academies, Matrix Trilogy, Superman, The Ring and I nearly forgot how great Mrs Doubtfire was!!
Chilli Paneer…. actually anything with paneer in it! You can’t go wrong with Pizza either (but I’m not a fan of Italian base!)
I never was much of a reader, but I’ve recently started reading quite a lot. Celestine Prophecy has to be one of my favourite books. I would recommend that to anyone. The Partner is a great book and I enjoy most John Grisham novels (although his earlier ones are better) Mark Giminez books are quite good and I really enjoyed Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons.
There is only one great quote which I will never forget… “Be the change you wish to see in the world…” Mahatma Gandhi
A little bit about my background
I was born and bred in South London. Studied Economics during my A Levels and then went on to read Economics at the University of Birmingham. After graduating I started working for a large FTSE 100 Business Process Outsourcing company as a graduate trainee.
In 2009 I qualified as a Chartered Secretary and became an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators later that year. I’m currently working in a law firm which is part of the network of one of the Big 4 audit firms. It’s the largest of the Big 4, so you can guess which one 😉
Why One Cause?
Education has always been really important to me. Without it I would not have had any of the opportunities I had growing up. Why One Cause…? Well that’s a slightly different story.
Back in 2007, Rajen (who is now the CEO of One Cause) called me asking if I had any books I can donate for him to sell. Rajen was gathering books to sell and donate the proceeds to a school that he had worked with previously. I told him I would have a look and get back to him in a few days. We started talking over the next few days and weeks to see how we could raise more money for the school and after Rajen had spoken to some of his other friends, we thought it would be a great idea to set up a formal charity and ‘donate’ a few hours month to help those in need.
Due to my experience in dealing with the legal affairs of a company, Rajen asked if I could help incorporate a company look at the compliance requirements to register it as a charity…
So instead of selling a few books, we ended up registering a charity!
So why One Cause? Well it’s simple.
As you can probably tell, I have a passion for education and helping people. There was no chance I was going to miss out of this opportunity and do something different. I wanted to be the change I want to see in the world!
