At Auro school in Uganda, we discovered early on that students were coming in hungry to school and so the school started providing students with a meal each day. Over the past couple of years, the school has tried to get partially self-sustainable in this area by growing as much crop as possible to feed our students. You can’t learn on an empty stomach! One of the projects we are considering this year to help feed students relates to rearing chicken for eggs. As we have learnt, they don’t require excessive attention and some varieties can provide an egg a day – a good sustainable source of protein! Like if you think we should go ahead with this project!
